To achieve this masterpiece, the artisan must painstakingly outline the continents and islands using ultra-thin gold wires before filling the resulting compartments (cloisons) with various layers of enamel powder. The dial is then fired multiple times in a kiln at extremely high temperatures (Grand Feu process), yielding brilliant, unfading colors with incredible depth. Framing this miniature artwork are a 24-hour ring with day/night color coding and a city ring representing the 24 standard global time zones.

At the beating heart of this sophisticated timepiece lies the ultra-thin self-winding movement Caliber 240 HU (Heure Universelle), building upon the legendary World Time mechanism invented by Louis Cottier.
